Barcelona remains a popular touristic city, as is also one main migration destination for seeking better opportunities and life conditions.
Densification emerges to be an unignorable phenomenon in the city center with the increasing population, followed by plenty of urban renewal schemes that were developed to house the majority. While housing prices witness a sharp increase due to the touristic development and housing speculation, more migrant workers find themselves struggling to afford the rent in the city and thus turn their sight outside the center to seek settlement.
Sant Adrià de Besòs forms a uniform urban area within the Barcelona metropolitan area. It has experienced several mass migrations flows due to the development of its service sector and industrialization.
This project aims to explore and document the real-life experience of immigrants in this area to understand Barcelona from a grander angle.
